I'm working on my 1st sump design for my 90g discus tank. Overflow will be a Lifereef Slimline up to 600gph. The sump will be built from a 29g tank and will be filtering about 500gph(Mag7 pump). Sump will have 4 layers of foam(10ppi,20ppi,30ppi,45ppi) will be using 5 litres of k1 for bio-media with 3-4 12' airstones. Will also be running a
purigen reactor and some reef-spec carbon in the last section.

Here is some pictures of what my plan is:

Does this seem like a decent sump design? Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated!

Should work nice, kinda like the design I'm running and also I have an Lifereef overflow filter. Here's where I got 4 gallons of the new mirco k1 media: http://www.ebay.com/itm/281887898185?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&var=580863584016&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT My sump:https://youtu.be/LZp1CFdzsdg

I'll switch the 45ppi for a second 30ppi.

id say you need some form of baffle to help pull the water through the foam, or its going to just run over it.

No need for baffle if you use poret foam from SwissTropicals. Buy the size needed for sump tank and the fit is tight, water flows right through. I have no baffle or any other support in my sump, just the poret foam filters back to back.
