This is the best air pump I have used. It's really quiet and love the big adjustment knob. It comes in a multitude of different outlet numbers. I feel for the price its a great pump.

I am purchasing this one, has excellent reviews, I heard its really quiet, I'm getting the one that's rated for 300 gallons to use for multiple tanks.

I have a couple of these and although they work fine they are NOT what I would call silent.

Really? Do you have this exact model? Cuz I heard their other models are noisy but a lot of people on amazon and a couple on here say this particular one is pretty quiet. I don't know for sure because I haven't purchased it yet. But I will still probably purchase since you still say its a good product. I don't actually mind a small amount of noise since this will all be set up in my basement. But I don't want it to be really loud.

Compared to piston pumps, these diaphragm pumps are all much louder, no matter what shape or dampening feet they put on them. That's what was great about the old Silent Giants. They were a relatively small piston pump. I have no idea whether they still make them. Trouble is you only need one for a tank or two, so the piston pumps many buy from Jehmco aren't worth it for you.

I am old and crusty, but my memory of the old silent giant {the off white, canister looking one filled with sand for acoustic dampening} was actually a vibrator/diaphragm design, not piston? All the old piston pumps I had were pretty loud, the last being a Supreme dual piston one with a large, hot running motor.

I just googled it and the site I found describes it as a piston pump. There's one on ebay for $25. At 62, I'm starting to get a bit crusty myself :)

Told you I was getting old!! Here is a clip I just found of the exact same Supreme piston pump I had decades ago, that thing was a beast compared to todays plastic throwaways! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvU1cKJVhJk

What do you think about the EHEIM 400? I wonder about the purchase of this pump to 400l aquarium.

I have used both the 300 and 150. Mine are the original tetra deep pumps easy to rebuild with the same output Which is not always the case with others I have used. Highly recommended

I got this for $2 on Craig's List, but I'm sure it's also available new on Amazon.

It does the job on my 110 gal very deep tank running 2 sets of triple stacked Hydro V's.
