Hello all,

My name is César and am a first time poster. I joined simply discus because I hope to one day keep these beautiful animals. I have been researching Discus for a year and recently came across drip systems. As I understand it they will help stabilize the parameters of your tank as well as slightly reduce the need water changes (but not by much). I wanted to set one up to see how I like it or it how it goes for me, however I am no plumber. So I will post a picture of what the location of what I think is probably my best bet for hooking up a drip system. I would like all of you opinions and thoughts on how best to proceed from there. How to actually hook one up given what I have, and parts and tools that I could use with this.
Thanks!!

Check out "The king of DYI" channel on youtube. He has a very informative video about this and I believe it is called "never do another water change." He also has a video series called Discus 101 that is really good. Good Luck!

Depending on your water pressure and what is on the other end of that tubing I'd be a little sketched out by trusting a zip tie on that fitting. There are plenty of compression adaptors you can buy for various different tubing sizes at your local hardware store. I'd feel much more comfortable with that for starters. You will need to know id and od of your tubing.

I use a drip system similar to what Joey uses on all my tanks. It's I good ideal but I still do plenty of water changes

Thanks all. The tubing leads to a water distillation unit. The zip tie held for decades not really worried about that. I was thinking along the lines of getting rid of the spigot (silver coloured part) and figuring out how to create a drip system beginning from the brass part.
Joey's channel is great and that's where I got my idea of starting a drip system. Turns out the parts he recommends don't fit into any of these parts pictured.

Ryan, thanks for your reply. What do you mean ID and OD?
