So went to Gatorland for the first time since last summer and played out in the breeding marsh and then did something I have not done much of. Playing with color, texture and some composition. What did you think.

First color.

I could not resist the texture in this guy's feathers.

Love the Flamingo shot, 10/10 for me. Love the pose, the black background, the sharpness, color, everything. I've seen one similar photo a while back that just popped to me, and this one is no different. Natural sunlight? I personally find this the best of the group hands down. They all look great though.

Thanks Matt, I always seem to want to include the entire animal so this is getting me out of my comfort zone. I will admit I had different reasons for each shot and immensely enjoyed myself :D.

Al, note the blue eye on this gator. It is called a Leucistic, basically a white gator with blue eyes and blue patches on the body.

Cool Pat...I used to have a pair of leucistic Black Rat snakes... looked very similar.

Think this is a Florida panther. There are a couple of them at Gatorland. This was a tough shot (and really is not that good). The panther was lying in the den and the only way I could get a shot was to stand on my tippy toes to get above the junk in the way and extend the lens all the way out. Would have been a nicer shot if more of the chest and paws were in the image but there was junk in the way.

You know Pat, i'm not sure they're too far off from being able to sell. You're photos are really exceptional. The saturation is nearly perfect on the sleeping gators.

I'm not sure if any of you guys are into saltwater shots but I take my 16 month old to the Aquarium of the Pacific quite often. I'll see what I can pull off with the lenses I have. I have 0 training or experience but I'll try.

Casey, practice on your discus tank before going to the aquarium. It will teach you about reflections.

Casey, dig out the camera and start shooting! This section of the forum is just for members like you...a place to learn how better to use your gear. Hope to see some pics.

I have taken a couple few pics of my fish. That's where my avatar comes from. (aside from the obvious reflection problem) lol...

Al,

I'll shoot some pics of the equipment tonight, maybe you can let me know what i have. I got it from a friend who shoots film as a gig. So i'm sure it's not garbage.. If it was a fishing rod or surfboard i could tell you all about it.

Pat, crop the Panther head as a square portrait.

Nice albino gator baby Stan. I do still have my breeding pair of albino rat snakes and 2 offspring we raised from them.
Albinos and Leucistic forms of reptiles are really beautiful critters.

It was pretty much a square Stan, here's a cleaner crop perhaps.

I like it. Looks like he's sitting for a photo shoot and got a little bored.

I am sure he was bored Stan but this is the first time shooting a large cat. :) I will be back earlier in the day and see if I can them a bit more active.

Thank Matt :)
