Hey Guys, I am new here and I recently had a red and white 3 inch discus I bought it in December. Than a problem occurred, most of the gills started to turn black about a month in. I fed it Blood Worms. But it got slower and slower to the point when it would just lie on the floor of the fish tank. I didn't know what to do and I didn't have a quarantine tank. I did not have the antibiotics and medications either. And the only aquatic veterinarian was hours away. So on Friday the Discus unfortunately passed away after me and my father did a water change. What could I do if we get a next time. What could I do to get it right?

i recommend reading the stickies in the beginner section of the forum, and definitely watching this entire video: http://forum.simplydiscus.com/showthread.php?122038-Are-you-new-to-discus-WATCH-THIS-VIDEO!

that will answer a lot of your questions, and steer u to a path of success with ur next discus. then come back to the beginner section and let the group know ur plans! there are tons of great folks here who can offer suggestions or advice. it is helpful if u give as much info as possible, so check out this thread and fill in the questionaire so we can get a good picture of your tank set up.

Good advice. Do lots of research and ask lots of questions. Use all the resources available to get yourself started off on the right foot.

May also help to tell us about the tank you had this fish in. First thing is you should never have a lone discus

36 will be too small for discus. Recommendation is minimum 5-6 discus which means at bare minimum you need a 55
