Does the red nose ever go away?

I've got a couple with the dash-and-crash red nose damage. Does the red ever go away?

I always wondered what the red nose came from... I think it does heal,it seems to come and go on my fish often.

I figured it was just the semi transparent skin, more visible based on mood or blushing...
