There is no rhyme or reason to my Ehiem

Can't figure this one out. My ehiem was flowing water
one minute and the next minute it's not working.
I have created the syphon and filled up the canister
and have the flow go out the output. I plugged the
unit on and it's not flowing water. I have cleared
all the passages. And tried again. But the pump
is not flowing water. I see the propeller turning,
but I don't know why it's not sucking in the water.
Does this mean it's kaput? Why would the
pump not be flowing water correctly?

Have you primed it? I am not sure of your model or set up, but most canisters need a prime and have a little lever to crank to get it going and flowing, try that.

What model eheim do you have? i have 2217, 2215 and 2236. if you get an air bubble by the impeller, it won't pump..

I agree with the others. You could have an airlock. When you say you filled the canister did you push the primer button until you could see the canister filling on it's own or did you manually fill canister.

Occasionally I get an air lock and can't clear it using the primer button on my again pro 4+

When worse comes to worse I suck the end of the return tube/spray bar and usually it will create enough siphon to purge the air in the intake line
