how to grow pothos

Can pothos be grown fully submerged in a pot or just the roots? If only the roots how do you
anchor it in/to the tank?

I don't think you can submerge it. I have a strip of egg crate along the back edge of the tank where you usually put the plastic strip. I thread the roots through it and they hang in the tank. You can tie the plant to the EC but I get by without.

do you run that on all your tanks or just some? Do you see a difference in those tanks if it is just in a few? As far as cleaner water or anything?

Hi Phil,
I've got one 75 with my red/browns that it's in. It's also the tank I've got a couple rams, cories, and tetras in, too. So it's my experimenting tank beyond just bare bottom with discus. Everybody's doing fine, so I don't really notice a difference.

I have cut little holes into the back plastic and wedged the pithis in there. It grows great. I need to anchor it to the wall behind the tank because it's all in a pile right now, but I'm going to prob move the tank soon so I haven't done that.

Just another way to do them--I don't love the look of the pothos roots in my tank and I don't feel like wrestling with eggcrate, so I bought these suction-cupped baskets (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Kitchen-Bathroom-Wall-Storage-Rack-Holder-Sink-Sponge-Shelf-Basket-Suction/32832032165.html) that are supposed to be for your sponge in the kitchen sink, and stuck the pothos roots in there. The plan is to eventually build a 3D background to hide the baskets but it's not totally hideous.

IME they can be sort of semi-submerge but the leaves submerge will died, sort of floating will be OK and the best way is only the roots, I use to keep them even in my sump and they keep the nitrates down , but some how I have a garden snail infestation that I don't know where it came from. I decide to move them to a pot with regular dirt to this day. I didn't use anything to hold them they were long enough to stay in place with the acrylic tank cut outs .
