I like to share with you the changes that i made to my old 55 g tank about a year ago.
I wanted to have an effect of sun rise- sun set on limited budget and i started by taking the old black vinyl film and replace it with a frosted glass vinyl film , you can buy that from your home depot for under $ 10 for 2 meter length.

The next step was to buy a piece of plastic white cardboard from office work supply ,cutting it to shape and sick it to the back of the tank.

You can buy the white plastic for under $ 6 , I had an LED strip from another project which i placed horizontally behind the tank , but you can buy it from IKEA for under $ 15 , i made sure that all the wires ,and the tubes were placed behind the cardboard so you can not see them through the tank.

I have put the LED light on timer ,i comes on 30 min before the main light in the morning and goes off after one hour and again comes on 30 min before the main light goes off at night and stays for one hour .
The whole project has cost me under $ 30 , please let me know what you think.

note, I was not sure of the category mod please move this to the right place .

What type of tank is that? Love the edges, doesn't look like some run of the mill 55, very cool

Are there only 4 in the tank? Are those from joe? They look beeefy! Gorgeous!

Hi Phil; I got the tank second hand ,put some aluminium edging ,then got IKEA kitchen cabinet to match but it is the frosted glass look that make it look special ,also i was lucky that Joe gave me those gorgeous beeeefy discus ( thanks Joe ) , There are actually 5 discus there and 1 is hiding !

Let us know what we think? Is someone fishing for compliments Mr. Sayid!?!? LOL

Spectacular, that is what I think. Simple, easy, basic, w the focus on those nice fish and a few fat corries which I like as well...

Tanks like these make me miss domestics... I think I need another aquarium!!
