Al, remember when I told you that specific alleles could be inherited all from the mother or all from the father? Attached is the url for a Ted Talk by Chris Gregg, a colleague of mine here at U of U where he explains this. While the title is "Why Sex?", he is talking about the reason for sex as being for diversity, which includes allele specific traits.
