Sick discus bloated belly looking for advice

115149115148I recently posted about jumbo discus pointing downward. It looks like his stomach is swollen now. Trying Epsom salt and amoxicillin. I really don’t want to over medicate. Can someone advise?

Hi Trye, I have found with a swollen belly it is either a blockage or an internal bacteria infection. Other then to move it to a hospital tank you seem to have both covered. It is my understanding that meds are not as effective in a planted tank.

Epsom salts will generally clear a blockage within about 24 hours. An internal bacteria infection will take longer and quite often treatment is not successful. Hope this works out for you.
