First thread will be focused on my young pair of royal ruby red discus and my attempt at successfully raising and growing their fry to adults. They have eaten eggs both times they have tried to date. May also create additional thread on a pair of silver angelfish and gold rams that are in the same boat, both have laid eggs but continue to eat them after two days on the cone.

i really enjoy seeing how dark red they turn when it gets closer to spawning time, i never thought i would be able to tell a difference but it is noticeable. Not as much so in the photos.

Hi Landon, nice looking pair. I would suggest that you give them more room about the cone so perhaps next time they will spawn on the cone vs the tank wall. How old are your pair? Is this a confirmed pair or one which formed in a larger tank?

Good luck with breeding... It would be nice to see the process. ( And after the fry grow up and are for sale ,I can pick up a few :) )

ate the eggs yesterday again. i ended up removing the driftwood out of the tank to give them more room. left it in because i think they liked having another barrier in there for security.

below are some photos around the fish room, i turned half the shed outside the back of the yard into my little hobby, currently have the 3 20 highs with a pair of discus, pair of angels, and a pair of rams. There are also 2 55's. 1 holds 4 adults rainbows, the other 55 holds 10 yellow mollies, rainbow fry, and a select few small angels. there is the large 90 that is housing a group of angels, and there are 3 30 squares that hold miscellaneous discus that are growing out. 2 yellow albino and a red albino are my current favorite. there is also a 30 long that i shifted 12 blue paradise adults to last night out of the 55 to separate the adult rainbows into their own tank. 115944

you also see my little helper in the bottom right hand corner, he is two and has a hard time keeping not only his hands but his entire body from getting wet while we are out there doing water changes together.

not sure if the pictures are uploaded correctly or not but they appear to be visible? I also age my water in the barrels that you see below the 20 gallon tanks. morning water changes at 5:30 before work and than start over again the next day.

i think the pair is still young, my guess would be around 1 year old now. Got them off a friend of mine that lives over in Lima. I visit him regularly when he decides to switch up his livestock.
