So the story.........Nearly 5 years ago I retired from UPS after 35 years. A good "Simply Discus" friend (Rich Termotto) sent me some Piwo growouts as a retirement gift. What I didn't know was that he had also included some angel growouts. They were from a line he had that originally came from a Lee Gordon Platinum and a Carol Francis Smoky. When they were finally grown out I ended up with a beautiful smokey pair. Philippine blue, veil tail, pearl scale. The pair threw a really nice variety of platinum's, smoky's, zebra's and other phenotypes. Some of the prettiest angles I have ever kept!! When I shut down the fish room to move I kept 6 to try and carry on the line when we finally moved and the new fish house was up and running. I kept them in a 125 in my Father-in-laws garage. They continued to spawn during that time. I moved them into the new fish house and nothing. I can't tell you how disappointing this was. I finally broke down and ordered some new PB marbles. The day they arrived two of the original line spawned, go figure. Here is the tank with the growouts I have selected to continue the line. They are 4 1/2 months old and between half dollar and silver dollar size. Their parents are 8" from the top of the dorsal to the bottom of the anal.

The lights on this tank don't really do these angles justice. I sold a couple to a friend in our local club a few weeks ago and here is a pic of one of them in her planted tank. You can really see the blue in this pic.

Thanks Liz. You know angels and have some beautiful ones yourself. The genetics on these are excellent.

Thanks Barb, Patty. Their fins are beautiful. They have great genetics that give them really nice fins but another reason is that I treat them just as I do my discus. They get daily large water changes and fed the same food I feed my discus. When people see my angels in person they ask how I grow them so big and I have only one answer...... lots of clean water. At 4 1/2 months old these are as big as a lot of adults you will see.

I raise my Angels the same as my Discus as well. It makes all the difference in the world.

I’ve got to stop watching this thread as I’m falling in love again! Who am I trying to kid? It was already too late the minute I laid eyes on this fish. I won’t tell you how many times I’ve come back to gawk. I’m lovesick.
