View Full Version : Best video/audio editor?

I can record and load to my computer videos from my phone, and I've also done it from my DSLR camera, but it's been a while. The phone vids include the ambient sound.

I'd like to be able to edit the videos, and overlay my own choice of music; could be from youtube, from dvd's, or files on my computer? I'm enough of a novice that I'm not sure what's the preferred option these days.

So, is there a preferred video editor app to use? I have photoshop, too, but haven't learned to use it much yet. Does that have that capability?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Adobe Premiere, but if you have never used a professional editing platform there is a steep learning curve.

Hi Steve,

YouTube does give you the option of adding music to a video once it is uploaded so this might give you part of what you want. Note that if music is considered copyrighted and has be added to the video prior to being uploaded to Youtube, YouTube will block the music from playing when watching the video.

AH, thanks for that last info Pat. I hadn't considered that. From my efforts with my contest post I was aware you could add from YouTubes's menu, but wanted to be able to add others. Sounds like that's limited.

Hi Steve.
I use a programme called 'Ulead Video Studio'. It allows you to download video clips from different sources and then edit them, add in pictures and music. Its been a good tool for me over the years and many new versions have come out since. I purchased mine from a swap meet on dvd but you may be able to down load it from the net.

Once you have done that you can create a video file which you can download on utube to share with the world. It also gives you the option to burn a dvd

It took me awhile to self teach myself how to use it and the reason i wont swap over to better programmes that are out there.

i found this which may give you more information

I have my own utube channel 'twoutesmarlin' and each clip was done using that programme if you want to check some end product.

Have fun and good luck
