Our Big Block filters can be built to incorporate your heater, de-cluttering your tank. Here's a unit with a Hygger 200W digital display heater. The heater can be placed out of site in the rear of the filter too.

A couple of my albino platinums from Kenny doing a photo bomb too.

Very good, also prevents silly fish scalding themselves on the heater. Is that Biohome ultimate as the bottom layer of media?

Hi Paul,

Yes, that is Biohome Ultimate which we offer as an upgrade. Iíve had great luck with it myself.

Placing the heater in the filter also helps circulate the heat faster as the air/water flow is constantly moving around the heater.

Hi Joie, perhaps a consideration. Since discus keeper like to place the heater horizontally in the tank would it be worth placing the Big Box on it's side? I know that design is less efficient and perhaps more material costs.

Hi Pat,

Good suggestion and one I've been wrestling with myself...how to incorporate the heater horizontally without compromising the efficiency of the filter itself. I have a couple of ideas, but they're probably not aesthetically pleasing...I'll keep working on it!

Just a thought, down the road maybe you could add some designs that look like ornaments? Driftwood, sunken ships, Creature From The Black Lagoon, lol...

That's an idea...I'll see what I can do; hopefully keep the pricing reasonable.
