The larger herons and egrets seem to eat anything they can swallow. Nice capture Al and bet that fur felt weird going down the hatch. :D

I wonder if the Rat being an avid disease carrier and definitely something the heron doesn't usually eat would affect the heron negatively in some way.

Believe it or not guys Herons will eat anything they can fit in their mouths!..fish, amphibians, reptiles, small mammals, insects, and other birds..first time I ever saw one chow down on a mammal.
