Sorry to be a nitpick here! F1, F2, etc is "Filial".

fil·i·al
adj.
Of, relating to, or befitting a son or daughter: filial respect.
Having or assuming the relationship of child or offspring to parent.
Genetics. Of or relating to a generation or the sequence of generations following the parental generation.

Rikk

F1 is the first cross of wild fish or from any fish ?

Rod
09-30-2002, 07:43 AM
When i think of F1 discus i thought it was meant to mean that the fish are produced from 2 wild parents of the same subspecies. F2 would be 2nd generation (1st inbred generation) and so on.

So that would mean an F5 RSG would be a pure bred Symphysodon Aequafasciata Aequafasciata inbred 4 times from wild parental stock.

i heard that when you have two fish, not wild, and they are crossed they called them also F1
because it is the first fry

that should not be normal, or is it ?

HITH: Hole in the head. (a cichlid disease. Sometimes called "hex" too, which is an abbreviation for the longer name of the infesting critter, hexamitia or something like that.)

I do not wish to single out any one site or person but the whole abbreviation thing makes me want to kick the snot out of those who do so. It's not as though we must pay by the word as was common in the days of the telegraph and in my view, those that abbreviate demonstrate their lack of respect, their laziness, and an assumption (always a bad thing) that others understand the message.

I agree with 1077, if you have to text do it on your cell-phone, sometimes all the abbr's all together gets confusing to get the message clear...........JMO

Mate, i thought you must have been joking as your reply to 1077 was so ridiculous. But no indications where given by you that you were being sarcastic to 1077. If you want people to read sarcasm in your replys you should perhaps be more explicit. Nobody here can hear your tone of voice or see your body language. But really ,is making light of an obviously cruel and arrogant person the right way to go? I say stop them in their tracks and tell them outright, i like a joke as much as anyone but i will never joke about someone like that.
