Sweet Rich!

I wasn't so lucky this weekend. I went to the Gatlinburg Aquarium. It was spectacular if you're into reefs.

There was a huge tank about 10 ft deep at the bottom of a giant cascading waterfall. In it were several 4 ft arrowanas, some pacu, oscars,ew shovelnose cats. Above was an entrance and sign that read,"Tropical Rainforest." I was very excited to go in, only to find, NO DISCUS! :'( There was a tank with some cardinals and other tetras, a tank with a large school of red belly pirahna, and couple dedicated to the mud skipper. That was about it. Oh, and some freshwater stingrays. The rest was saltwater.

Anyway, I love the tank decor!

My only response to that display is:

DAMN!

John

PS. I saw the discus in Baltimore a few years back and they were NOT that cool then!

cool pics, got any from a distance? Any idea what kind of turtle that is? I guess it can get to surface in the setup there (assuming its not a fully aquatic turtle like fly river turtles, etc).

That's the best Wild discus in thier natural enviroment I've ever seen. Thanks Rich. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for posting them Al ! It's amazing what a $200.00 digital cam can do! Did you notice all the cardinals in there? Must have been 2-300! There are catfish and plecos in there too. The turtle (no idea what kind, should have read the plaque!) was an interesting addition. Makes you wonder why some of us have such a hard time with planted tanks at home!
Glad everyone enjoyed them.

That is definitley the best natural display I've ever seen. They look nice and healthy. I would be interested in the type of filters, size of tank they used, and amount of water changes they do on those fish.
