I have some very nice fish from Cary that I have been growing out.

4 Red PB, 4 Red Dolls & 4 BDxSS

Here are some pictures taken before the use of any color enhancement other the the occasional feeding of Tetrabits (occasional defined as no more than 3 feedings per week)

In order of most fed to least I have been feeding these fish Blk Worms, Blood Worms, Mysis, Beef Heart, On1 Flake & Tetrabits.

On 10-10-02 I will begin to feed them NOTHING BUT Beef Heart mix containing Mysis, garlic & Naturose. The mix contains 1Tbs of Naturose per Lb of heart.

Here are the before pictures taken on 10-10-02

I started feeding on 10-10-02 the fish were fed 3 times a day with BH with Naturose ONLY. It doesn't take much time to see results.

I must say that really surprises me. I've used Naturose in my beefheart for quite awhile and it does increase the red but not overnight. At least not with my fish. It usually takes about 3 weeks for the color to be noticeable. I use about 4 heaping TbSp per 6lbs of beefheart and that seems like a lot. It's enough to turn the sponges in my prefilter fairly red. I would feed other foods as well but the beefheart would account for about 50% of the daily food.

Are you sure you're not boosting the color of the 10/12/02 pics? I can make your 10/10/02 ones look pretty red without Naturose, ha ha ha.

Dave,

Nice phot altering you really bring out the blue in my background too. :)

Other than cropping, no alterations were made on either sets of pictures taken.

My ratio of NR to BH was a bit higher than yours. 1 HEAPING Tbs per Lb of BH. Weight of BH was before trimming away the fat and valves.

I have been feeding NOTHING but the BH mix since the morning of 10-10-02. It is a bit messy & I have had to change my wc routine 60% twice a day, not to mention wiping the BH off my fingers before the turn red.

All my sponges & prefilter get coated and tank bottom & sides need to be wiped daily.

I have noticed that my smaller fish 2 to 4 inches have colored up but nowhere near as much as my larger fish.

When you prepare your BH do you mix your Naturose with water and heat it up in the microwave before mixing it into the BH? It seems to dissolve and turn into a paste. I think it penetrates & permeate the mixture better than when mixed in straight.

BTW. CARY get's all the credit for that little tip.

I just bought some as well, about 6 grams. Redlines, do you think this will be more than enough for around 5 pounds of mix? From these results, I can't wait to start feeding it to them!

This is the first time I have ever used Naturose. So your guess is as good as mine.

IMO The more you can pack into the mix the faster the fish color up.

From what I can tell the fish devour my beef heart mix even more than before I mixed in the Naturose.
