Nitrogen cycle?? [Archive]

How many days it takes to cycle a 55gallon tank with 4 fish in it??? I am about 22 days right now and nitrites are very high, no ammonia thoo.. Any ideas when all this nitrite will end???

Don't know, have to check it. I hope it will be gone soon, fish is getting stressed...

If your fish are getting stressed, use some Prime or another nitrite detoxifier! Another way to help relieve stress is doing water changes however it will prolong the cycle. Nitrite is the longest stage in the nitrogen cycle, lasting anywheres from 2 weeks to 6 weeks! Hope it cycles soon though!

No nitrate yet. Just checked. Nothing. Also have put some salt, it will help the fish.

Nitrite is extremely hard on your fish, I would be doing at least 2 water changes a day if you must cycle with fish.
