These are my first spawning pair. Also, the first two fish I ever bought back in February still less than a year old. They have spawned twice so far with only a few making it to free swimmer stage. I'm expecting them to go at it again tonight. Please give me honest opinions and criticisms. I know the pigeon blood has a little too much peppering but I think he/she's nice. Which one is the female? I am always too late to actually see the deed so I'm not sure which is the female yet. I suspect the PB is the female though. I will have some more pics of my other fish to post later. Unfortunately, a lot of the pics didn't come out right.

Wolf,

You have done a great job! Your discus look very healthy, your tanks are very clean, and I am sure you will have babies some day! But, you are going to need another tank for them!

I think both discus are of a quality that you should spawn them. I like them both!

IMO the female is the PB and the male is the blue.Nice looking fish.Put a lite blue backgroung on your tanks and a lot of the peppering will seem to go away.

That's a good combination. I attach a picture of the same combination of your pair. This is the F1 PBXBD. the mother is the one with a broken dorsal fin on the right. The rest of them are her children. The BD farther is somewhere else with another nice young girl. You know how's the males are. The brood will have a combination of both. These are the cream of the crop. I only kept 20 out of 180fry. Most of them were quite dirty and they went for comando training early in my Cichlid tank. That's how the Blue Panda was created if you keep the dirty white one's.

I really like your pair! I'd guess that the female is the PB. Let us know how it turns out

Jimmy I could only dream I ended up with fish like that out of this pair. My plan is to keep only the very best out of the spawns and get rid of the rest. I'm dealing with very limited tank space. I agree I need more tanks for sure and some fish to fill up my bigger tank with. I'm patiently waiting for this pair to spawn. Thanks for all the nice comments.

Wolf;

I agree with your calling the blue one a Cobalt. A Blue Diamond would have absolutely no patterns on the gill plate. This fish obviously has BD background, but has been outcrossed to a Cobalt.

Even though you don't see them spawning, you should be able to confirm the sex by the genitalia. It takes the tubes 6 - 8 hours to fully retract. The female has the larger, more blunt, tube.
