Just Curious to what Degen has been up to. I know he had a publishing company "Bede" but other than that I haven't seen anything on him. Is he still breeding his discus?

If you believe what Jim used to say he probably has drank himself to death by now :P

Mr Degen is currently producing an excellent discus magazine for the hobby. Currently it is only produced in the German language.

How about a little respect for that great discus man Muttfish >:(

Muttfish needed to add a few more of these " ;) " The bad thing about "in" jokes in cyberland is your audience changes all the time.

Jim Quarles had a strong dislike for Mr. Degan and never missed an opportunity to run the man down.

I bet Muttfish was more reminiscing about the good old DIP days than commenting on Mr. Degan.

Well, His name is Bernd, and I know Jim disliked him. He really wasn't to fond of Mr. Axelrod either! ;) Frank

I bought fish from him years ago, I think I posted a certificate, anyway, he was very nice to deal with and sent absolutely fantastic fish.. Best packed box of fish I've ever gotten. Warm as toast inside the box and dry as a bone. Fish looked great. I got some red scribbled and even shipped one of them to Jack in exchange for a pair of his turquoise. The red scribbled was pretty new at the time..1990? or so. Pretty fish. Wish i had a tank full of them. The understanding I had was that Bernd never really had a big setup..6 or 8 tanks is what i was told.

I loved the quote in one of Degan's books... that all americans keep pink gravel and a skull and cross bones in our tanks.

Yea, we have pirate skeletons in our tanks and we're proud of it!

I resent that quote in the book about treasure chests and pink gravel......especially when most of the photos in one of his books has blue gravel >:(

But there is some useful info in them, and have them in my library.
