was it his turn to mind the kids...or are they not as attracted to her..or him...cause its a marlboro?

paulmat

I think he(RSG) has more slime on him than she does. I have read that the PB strains don't produce as much slime coat as compared to other strains,

Most interesting is that four days earlier, all the frys were on the RSG. Now, the Marlboro is also taking care of frys. In my experience, I have had reason to believe that PBs will produce slime, but that the development of slime is delayed. If you can get past the first 2 - 3 days, the frys will attach and feed off a PB or a PB derivative like Marlboro. What are your thoughts?

Willie

paulmat
11-29-2002, 03:32 AM
Willie
I have heard and read the same and it sure appears that it's true. The RSG still seems to be the primary host. Allthou the female does seem to be stepping it up a little more in the last couple of days.

Another interesting thing is how much more aggresive the female is.She's downright mean to me :'(

Hey Paul,

What does RSG stands for? Red Snakeskin Green??

Also your Marlboro looks like it was created from a Sans Merah, is this correct?

Wish u luck with the fries.

Danks.

Cheers,

Chi.

paulmat

RSG stands for Red Spotted Green, this one is a wild.
The Marlboro does have Sans Merah bloodlines.
Thanks for the good luck wish ;D

I looked all over couldn't find it.Then I realized it went under the rack,so I got my net and slid it under and sure enough I got it.To my suprise it was still alive, barely,Do you believe, it still is. Paul :guitarist:

12-28-2002, 12:03 PM
They look great!!!! Yes, I see a bunch I like!!!! On your picture for your profile, do this: Open your picture and make it 65 X 65 pixels, save it as a jpeg. (Should be able to do this in Zoombrowser- go to file, export) Then go to the web (free homepage maybe - and pick a format with photo options. Insert your picture. Once it is live on the web, right click on the picture, go to properties and copy the URL address. Now go to Simply, profile and paste your URL address under the "I have my own pic" and check the box. Save changes.

If you still have problems, e-mail me your picture and I will fix it for you - but I want the big version and I will downsize it to fit it for you and I will place it on the web and send you the URL address, and then all you have to do is open your profile and paste it. (PM me for my e-mail address)

Although it appears to me, that you just didn't quite go small enough. Right click on your picture and you will see that your pixels are 96X72. Make it 65X65 and try again!!!

Weezy ;D

Real nice spawn, Paul. For the record, it looks like 100% of the young lack vertical bars. That is, the Marlboro/PB trait is dominant in this cross.

Willie

paulmat
12-28-2002, 12:18 PM

I would guess maybe 20% will have the stress bars, you just don't see any in these pics, but I'll try and get a good one of one them

Paul;

That's good information. I would guess that you're looking at 2 genes controlling vertical bars, with one gene behaving as a semi-dominant (~1/4 ratio). That's consistent with everything else I've seen in PB type crosses. Interesting to see the RSG parent behaving the same way genetically as standard RT types.

The RSG stands for Red Spotted Green.

Paul;

Congratulations on doing an excellent job. The history of this spawn is really wonderful viewing. Since I'm a genetics freak, I noticed two pictures, #1 posted on Jan 11 and #3 posted on Jan 14, where the babies have very fine vertical bars like what you expect to see on snakeskins. If all those babies are from the same spawn, then your Marlboro may have a snakeskin in the background. How many of these do you see?

Well done on raising the spawn - they all look excellent. We had a marlborough and snakeskin spawn together, but we didn't get such nice babies. Ours all looked like peppered pigeons!! I don't see any pepper on yours, all the gold coloured ones are so clean :) Interesting about the genetics though! There's some pics of the babies here. So different! http://forum.simplydiscus.com//index.php?board=6;action=display;threadid=3082

Cheers, Scott

P.S. the MR has paired with an RSG now - I should breed them and see if they come out as good as yours!

Just as Willie stated, turns out my male may be a snakeskin too. The fry are resembling both parents. Some of Mom (Wild) and some of Dad... Fun to watch the changes. They are now 6 weeks fs and larger than the quarter taped to the tank.... I am anxious to see what I have.... :)

They turned out beautifully!!!

I agreed with Frank, I love the golden without the spots the most. The wild looking ones looked kewl too. Very interesting batch of various fries.

Great job Paul.
