Adventures with Discus....by Hans J. Maynard, TFH book ts 218,

Its a good book for its description the waters, and other fish in the areas as well as insight into the culture of the area. You can usually pick up a copy for about $ 25-30

hope this helps,

Hi all,
Phil, There are some excellent sources at your neighborhood University library. One that I would highly recommend is called "Amazonia-Key Environments". It is a periodical, but not in the magazine sense. It is hard-bound and is a technical work with some really in-depth info on EVERYTHING related to the Amazon! There are also other sources, such as a book called "The Flooded Forest", and many others on the subject. Go to a good library(like a university) and use their search system to find technical info on the subject. I did some extensive research on this subject using this method and found priceless info this way! HTH
