Well I been working on using my brothers digital camera and have taken these photo'd of my Golden Sunrise and Blue Diamonds. Both have just hatched there babies. The Blue Diamonds from Discus Hawaii are raising there first set of babies and I am really surprised that they weren't eaten. Instead they turned very dark and have moved the wigglers to a drain tube on there 29 gal tank. It's hard to see the female behind the male who watches me very close. Well if the pictures do not appear it means that I have exceeded my 60MB of viewing for the day. Sorry everyone I guess I will have to upgrade my account at Village photos. Here is the link to view the entire album if you wish.

This is a picture of the male Golden Sunrise but he decided to turn on me but you still can see all the babies swimming on his side. This is the 5th time this pair has raised there babies. The only thing I have to do with them is separate the male from the female with a piece of egg crate so he doesn't beat her up too much. But the babies swim thru the egg crate and everyone is happy.

And the last one is the whole tank with the egg crate in it. The male is on the right, female on the left.

Discus Geo,

Nice pics! Did the Golden Sunrises spawn again after the babies went free swimming? Looks like eggs on cone behind the parent with babies on the sides in one of the pics? I thought that parents with babies normally don't spawn again until the babies are gone or, if they do spawn, that they usually eat the free swimmers. Can you fill us in.

Just curious,

Pat

Pat they didn't spawn yet, that stuff on the cone is some fungused eggs. I wasn't able to remove them because the wigglers were too close.

I have to serparate the male from the female because the male gets to aggressive and picks on the female. Once the fry are free swimming he is fine, they both swim side by side with the fry on there sides. Here's a picture now that they are all swimming togethere.

Chi! As far as I know they are not crossed with anything else. I don't remember which breeder they came from, but all my Discus except for a few are out of Asia thru Discus Hawaii.

Nice pictures George
The last picture of the male is my favorite. It looks like the male has a red eye and the female doesn't. Are the babies 50/50?

Post some more pictures - I want to see what else you have from Ray.

Carol you are correct, the male has the red eye and they females is orange. Sorry I cannot post anymore photos from Ray's Discus. A while back in another post someone had broken into my house while I was in California for the weekend. Anyway whoever it was, poured Bleach in all my tanks killing everything. So I had to start over about a year later. The Blue Diamonds were given to me by my friend Charlie who got them from Ray also. The Golden Sunrise Pair and 8 Red Turquoise I got from Jim Quarles from the 2 lotteries we had. I don't know where Jim got the G.S but the Red Turks came from Team Discus and Bill added another 2 when he shipped them. So that is basically my Discus setup. Wait I am sorry I have 10 Angel Blue Diamonds and Gold Diamonds I got from Cary at GLD. Next year I plan on getting 20 Wild Discus as 2 separate colors/types.

Hi George:
Sorry, I hadn't heard about the discus murders - do you know who did it?

I may be mistaken, but I thought Jim got the Sunrise pair from TeamDiscus (when he was going to breed discus again) and then put them in the auction along with the brialliant blues. Maybe Chad knows where they came from? Anyway Bill and Brenda had lots of pigeon based discus.

Any pictures of the gold diamonds? Practice makes perfect you know ;)

Carol the Golden Sunrise may have been from Bill and Brenda also, I just don't remember Jim saying that they were so I don't advertise that they are Team Discus Fish. We never caught who broke into my home but I did change a few things in case someone comes around again. I will work on getting the pictures of the Gold Diamonds soon.
