Just wondering if anyone keeps freshwater Rays? I think Cary has some?
Are they hard to keep? Need some info on these guys.

my friend here does....i saw them . they were neat.
they come up and play tug of war with him for their earthworms.
he said theirnot too fussy.
way less water changes...

April is there any way I can get ahold of your friend? Does he have a computer? I am thinking of trying these thing's out but I like to talk to other's about them first.

I had one for awhile very cool! But I got Burned out on them
very easy to keep and would eat from your hand.


I kept Mine in a Bare bottom tank PH 7.5 GH 7 kh 6 Temp 82F
sponge filter, W/C every week,


I fed Mine BLKworms, nightcrawlers, Ghost shrimp,

Thanks for the info Cary!! What do Ray's ship like or should a person try and buy them locally? They are kind of cool looking things eh?
It sucks living where I do, we never get any decent fish here at all!!

Darcy. greg got his from oliver lucanasus in montreal
his were shipped in to vancouver from there. and apparently did fine.

Musty what kind of Ray do you have? Any pic's? How big of a tank is it in?
what are your water parameters?

I believe it is a Hystrix ray. The water parameters are similar to what Cary posted. That's where I got the ray from. It's in a 40 gallon tank temporarily. I don't have a pic of it handy.

I'm pretty sure that when Ron and Gary stopped by before the NE Discus Meeting they said that they had seen a bunch of rays at David Weber's in New York.

David Webber is an good source for rays, he deals with the high end one though. I think that still has some motoro's, which is probably the hardiest ray you can get. Oliver Lucanus has some as well and is Canadian which cuts down on the cost. He also got in his wild discus shipment a couple weeks ago. Check it out
