Hi all,
Well my pairs are all doing what they are supposed to and I have some fry that need a home to make way for upcoming spawns.. These fry are F1 crosses from a wild Green X blue snakeskin. They are about 1.5-2 inches long. I have adults from this cross and they turned out very nice. Pics are availible for the parents and the what a previous batch turned out like. I'll post some pics here tonight . No guarantees these will be the same, but they should be very similar. Shipping is availible for the USA only by FEDX. or by pickup in Connecticut I don't have alot of these so if you are interested let me know. I am selling them @ 6 for $100.00.
Thanks,
al

Julz,

Make room! I've seen the adult offspring of these same parents and they are really nice fish. I'm not just saying that because Al's my pal!

John...

Do you have an empty 55? lol. Really tho, I am seriously considering it. I am hoping for 6 of Willie's AD's soon and Weezy's fishies as well. My Hubby is gunna kill me!... :-\

Julz, can I ask how many tanks you are running? I have two 50s (both stocked to the breaking point) and a 12 that is holding a dozen 1" fry from Chad. Just curious what others have.

Julz,

Believe it or not I DO have an empty 55 gallon and a 30 and a 20 long in my basement!!!

The movers just brought them in from my mom's house yesterday. I'm still trying to decide what size tank to put in my open space. I'm pondering a 75 gallon with my 55 on the bottom shelf...

And I already have dibs on some fish from Al!

Dan,

Only 4 right now.

10 near adults in my 55,
2 breeders (just spawned last night) in my 46,
3 Wild babies (via Willie via Jeff Doty via....) in my 20 QT,
and 8 (Cary's babes) in another 55 QT.

I am a bit nervous about maxing :scared:, I also truely believe in QT, so am really out of room.

John quit that... Shame on you teasing with you empty tanks and space....... ;)

I will see what I can do tho. I think I have Weezy talked into it..

Hi Brad,
My experience with breeding discus is not that extensive, but these are f1 crosses. and the offspring are highly variable. What I did was select a set of snakeskins, and a set that looked more wild. Ideally by breeding the offspring back to the parents or to their siblings I should get a higher percentage with each generation that have the characteristics that I want. maybe in 10 years I would have a truly fixed strain that breeds true. Thats my goal with some of these crosses.
make sense?

that makes total sense. Thanks for the lesson. Do you have an ambition to create a specific type of strain, and if so, what is it? Where are you located Al, and are you willing to ship to people that want them?

I bought 4 of these siblings from from Al during the NE meeting a few weeks ago. They are active, eat well, are always willing to swim in the front of the tank where I can see them, and a real pleasure to watch grow.

Thanks Andy,
Some of The snakes from this cross have a really metallic sheen to them, I have some really great hopes for future breeders from these.
