OK, I need some advice. I am about to buy my first discus (tank almost cycled), and I just tested my tap water. Here are the results:

Directly from the tap (with dechlorinator):
pH: 7.4-7.5
KH: 4
GH: 10

These results are from my tetra-test kit. I have an RO unit, and it makes the pH about 6.0, and 0 KH, and 0GH.

What does this mean? Is my tap OK for discus? How will aging help me?

This looks fine to grow out juvenile discus. You will need to mix RO with tap when it's time to breed.

Your pH will probably raise after aging (agitating the water) Many of us have a plastic barrel where we heat and circulate our water to stabailize pH and temp. What is the Ph of a cup of water set out on the counter for 24 hours?
