hi everyone

my brother inlaw has a problem and i told him i would ask you all for some advuce. he has a pair of golden pb's that paired up. they are about 4-5 inches each and have been together since they were pups. his problem is that when he moves them to another tank on their own (trying to breed) they are ultra fussy. they won't eat or anything. the water is exactly the same as the community tank they came from. is it that they don't like to be alone????

please help!!!!!

thanks everyone for your time and commments ;D

Dooper,

I would have to say that they need some time to get used to the new tank and environment. Does he feed any live foods? Some blackworms would be a good treat to tempt them to get started eating.

It could also have to do with tank placement, shadows, etc. making them a bit nervous. He should check the relationship of the tank to any windows and lighting.

Discus are going to be a little more nervous in pairs than in groups anyway. I'd suggest he give them a few weeks, as long as they are not beating on each other and see if they come around.

I agree with John. When I moved my PB and Cobalt they were none to happy to leave the orgy tank!! They were pissed at me huddled in the corner not eating. After 3 days I snuck up on them and they were swimming around and being normal. Soon as they seen me the went back to there corner. I feed them beefheart and came back 10 minutes later and it was gone. I left them there till they were good and comfy, then switched them again to a new tank. This time they did not mind the move and have been spawning ever since. I think sometimes it just takes a little time. Freakin fish remind me of my kids everyday. They are spoiled all of them.
