Cheating

On a scale of 1 to 10, my spawning experience would be about 0.2, but it seemed like the fish did respond to me using this L-lysine product called Spawn-Aid. I got it from my LFS but here is the product:

I'm not trying to plug this product at all in fact I'm quite sure that it was just a coincidence! However I am not having much luck getting my discus to spawn right now, and I'm thinking of using it again.

Has anyone else had any luck with this stuff? Any other suggestions other than the usual basics?

seems to me that it's trying to produce chemicals similar to the natural pheramones of the fish. It is proven that when water is taken from a tank where breeding is occurring and then placed in a tank with adult fish that they will purk up and look around for a mate. That must be what it is emulating. Try it again and see if it works. Be sure to give us all the info!

Spoke too soon, just got a huge spawning!

maybe I'll test it out some other time
