i need a little help here!

Hello everybody!!

I have a young discus pair( maybe), about 10 months old and they have

spawned three times, about every 5 days in a community tank (29G). I did

not buy them as a pair. It looks like if I got lucky.

Filtration: Aquaclear 200 for mech. and a 10 gallon sump wet/dry with

lavarock as bio, with a spray bar all home made. I am using peat granules

from Fluval. Water parameters : PH 6.4-6.8 GH 7dGH = 125.3 ppmGH

KH 1dKH = 17.9ppmKH ammonia 0 nitrite 0


tap water is: PH 7.2 GH 8dGH = 143.2ppmGH KH 5dKH= 89.5ppmKH


Most of the eggs fungus out in two days Both perents take turns fanning.

At 3 days more fungus out but still some clear eggs left. Then it looks like

they eat the clear eggs.

What do you people think of my GH, is it too high? Any kind of sugestions

will be appriciated!!

yup...get it down to about 50 ppm or lower. If the eggs still fungus, u could use a bit of meth blue to solve that.

Have you seen the young male actually make runs over the eggs? He may still be standing around and watching . . . I've had red turks spawn in GH 9 and PBxRT in GH6

I have seen the male do some runs, but very few. :o

Maybe that is the problem.
