how to mate??

hello....i'm new in discus.

In case I see a male discus in a store, and next i see a female discus in another store. How to mate them? Assuming that each discus has been spawned before with their previous pair.

Second question: I often see pairs laying eggs around 200 or more, but only half are fertilized. How come ?? What reasons could that be, that not all the eggs fertilized? A breeder,of course,want all the eggs fertilized, right ?

If you have a male and female that have spawned before with other partners you can put first the female and then the male into the breeding tank and hope they like each other. Usually, if both are in breeding condition they will spawn after a couple of weeks.

Many things can contribute small % hatches. Eggs over large area, inexperienced male, too much water current, water too hard, etc.
