I have my Wild RSG Dad looking dark and not acting right a little haze on R eye and a little patch of haze on R side.
There are fry with him and Mom, Should I pull him out or treat all,and what should I use to treat.

Pull him out. Pay close attention to mom and babies too. How old are fry? Are they eating more than bbs yet?

Paul, If the patches are due to the grazing by the fry, You can pull him out, place on a wet towel and use Bacitracin Ointment topically, but work quickly with a Q Tip and smear it on the side. Do not dab the eye. Bacitracin is very effective and water resistant as well. The main idea is to minimize the risk of infection. HTH, Joe :(

Hey Al , and Carol
The female looks fine, the fry look fine, I might have over-reacted because the male looks better. I did a couple of 50% WC's added a little salt and he seems better, thou the R eye is just a little opaque looking. I was talking to Cary(bless his kind heart) and we were tossing things around and one thing I noticed is that it all started after I squirted the dad with BBS,could have had something to do with it.
His color is looking normal now, and the fry are back on him now, so I am going to closely monitor him and if he starts acting off again I will pull him and let him rest and recover.
Anything else I should do, or watch for????
Thanks for your help and interest,

Paul

Hey Joe
What can I use on the eye?
Should I go ahead and use it if he seems a little better now?

Paul, Nothing for the eye---too risky!!!! You would only want to use the bacitracin if you were to pull him and place in a separate tank. I don't know for sure, but the ointment can't be tasty!!! ;) Joe

Hi Paul,
Something in Your post Has Me concerned. when You sprayed The BBS over the Male Did You rince OUT all of the Salt from the Brine?

Only! Because I never rince it before I feed it to Fry And have Done What You Did and Sprayed it over the parents with the same results You speak of. Anyways I still do it but not on the parents anymore.. IMO it seems the parents when raising fry Bluid up in slime. But a slime that is much diffrent from what they have with out fry. IME when hit directly with salt water or substance. the areas that came in contact with the salt Will degenarate on Touch! Keep Us posted!
HTH You stop the Spotting!

Cary & Sly
Yes I do rinse the BBS before feeding them to fry.
Since we talked today I have not directly sprayed the parents, just off to the side.
He seems to be better, thou that eye has me concerned a little, just a little opaque in the center ???

Thanks, Paul
