Hi,

Remember my recently subject, "Fourth time, still unsuccessful for my
pair of Blue Diamond and High-fin Turquiose male". I have given up
hope for this pair and have placed them in community tank now.
But I notice the female blue diamond has white spots all over
the body. Copper treatment is given but seemed no effect, any
advice please.

Three weeks ago, out of frustration, I went to a fish farm and
purchased a pair of adult Rose Red. I observed the tank of
about 30+ adults and found two adult particularly aggressive towards
others. Close examination, I found that one adult has a longer breeding
tube clearly visible and both performed mating dance. Without hestitation.
I pronounced them couple and have them back at sing$90 each.

Three days ago, this pair started to spawn on the PVC pipe that I have made in a 3feet tank. This morning, I discovered that the about 150 eggs have hatched,a few turned white and I am so delighted that I have really bought a pair.

What should I do next? should water change be done during this period,
and should I still feed the adult with frozen blood worm?.

Please advice asap.

:)

I feed the parents very lightly - some eat , some don't. I siphon bottom and change small amounts of water daily until fry are attached to parents. Be very careful taht water is same temp and add to tank gently. Fry are delicate.

Kelvin are they in RO water. If so after my eggs have eyes showing about 36 hrs after fertilized. I do 10 % w/c's with treated tap water. This brings the hardness of the water up for fry development. Make sure the water temp is the same though. Also whats the water temp at the time they lay and fertlize eggs. It should between 80 and 82 deg. After the eggs are fertilized I slowly bring the water temp up to 86. Feed very lighty and good luck :) Jim & Diane

Hi everyone,

I am so delighted to see only 6 rotten eggs on the pvc tube which I have
taken out of the tank. This is the third day when I saw the fries become free swimming, there are so many fries that I can't count them. I am glad that this website really help hobbyist like me with lots of valuable informations. Although discus keeping is not that popular in Singapore
anymore but they are still some serious people like me around here to
keep the discus going without dieing out.
I am lucky to have known Mr chai from Chai Discus Farm who has shared his valuable experience with me.

thanks u guy.

Just a bit on my condition for breeding, my discus pair is kept in a 3 feet
tank and a 150watts heater set to 30 degree. I feed the pair with
a small amount of frozen blood worm and remove the left over in the night.
When the fries begin to hatch, i stop feeding the parent as they dont see
to eat even I feed them. No water change is done till the fries become
free swimming. At first, I observe all the fries are scattered at every corner
of the tank which worry me. The tank is filled with water almost till the
brim, and the fries are swimming at each extreme corner away from the
parent. What I did was to reduce the water to somewhere 3" above the
parent fin so that the parent still can swim around, and this method works.
Now all the fries are at the parent side now. The next thing I am going to do now is to prepare live brimp shrimp for the fries.

I do not have any photo of them yet, afriad that I might frighten them with
flash, but I promise to keep everyone inform of the wonderful fish that
I have now. This is the first successful pair that I have,I am so glad.

Hi keith_cny,

Attached a photo of my Rose Red with wriggles.
Today is the 12th day from hatching and I started to
feed them with brine shrimp and they love it so much.
