Snakeskin Has more than 10 bars (usually 14 or 16), a very fine pattern over the body usually blue with a tan or red base.
They have a distintive snakeskin patterning on the gill plate

Here is a young fish where you can clearly see the bars and paterning - again look at the gill plate

Hi Carol,
This question is off topic...but what strain of discus is the specimen in your profile picture. It is beautiful. I would love to see a larger view.
Thank you,

Carol, I think that pigeon blood of yours is about the prettiest fish I have ever seen. What a beauty! :)

Thank you Carol. He is a very beautiful fish. But looks alot different than a PB I have. Mine is red with the black spots. Is there that much variation in PB's?
thanks again!

Hi Carol :) :D ;)
Love you fish pictures. Might I ask what type of digital your using . ;D
I have a Cannon power shot s10and frankly a little disapointed with the pics it take . I have trouble taking moving fish pics and freezing the shot without blurring.
When I take a photo it has a delay so by the time the camea clicks the fish has moved out of the frame.
Any hot tips on digital photography ??? ???

To answer everyone's questions . . . .
The "pepper" on pigeons is black pigment. Some theorize it is the remnants of stress bars, but blue diamonds and other barless discus do not have pepper - only pigeon bloods.
The PB in my avatar is from Ray Kosaka of Discus Hawaii discushi@pixi.com
My camera is a Sony Mavica FD73. I take lots of shots with extra lights on the tank and only pick the best to post.
Nice fish Oscar and Dottie ;D
Carol,
I see you are showing them beautiful fish off again! LOL
Very fine indeed.

Hey I have a pigeon just like yours Korbi and Carol .. except mine has darker fins ... :)

:bounce: :bounce: Nice fish Toothfairy!! He's nice & round. I have a couple like that with the darker fins, more gold on the body. I think Carol's is much prettier & definitely rounder bodied than mine. He would be a great breeder. Mine has rounded out more now that he's older, but my vote is definitely for Carol's guy!! Anyway, nice fish!! How old is he? Dottie ;D ;D

Korbi,
Actually I think it's a SHE. I've observed her doing the vibration/head bowing rituals with this yellowish male RSG. Maybe they will make little Red Spotted Yellows? (yeah right ..LOL)
Anyway, she's a Wattley Sunshine and I got her at around 2". She's well over 4" now and she's around 8 months old.

I would give an ARM and a Leg for pigeon blood that looked like yours Carol. No joke. Any amount of money for some young ones like that!!

I've tried several different females with him. He will lovingly fan the eggs for days - too bad he never tries to make runs over them first :(
