Hey everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone knows of a good breeder in Indonesia who can export discus to Western Australia and is cheap? To be exact it will be Perth.

If it does work than we will set up a web site where people can order from us at a low price, and we will ship it to your their state, city, town or what ever. We will have contacts in places around Australia.

Hi boys,

could i make a suggestion - why not find an importer HERE. then get your fish thru him.

I have read a lot of threads about people wanting to import their own fish...... do you have any idea whats envolved ? high costs, quarantine space, import taxes, licencing, etc

Not wanting to be negative, but there's a lot envolved here guys.

You are right, Pascale. Here are the figures that the LFS gave me:
- A$1500 for shipment.
- A$800 - A$1000 to borrow their quarantine.
- Tax ?

You are going to need someone that has an import licence as you cant import them yourself as they have to be Quaranteened for 14 days by a licenced importer.
As Pascale said you would be better off talking to an importer.

People dont seem to realise that its a huge operation. not one that can be carried out by your average garden variety home hobbyist.

As for hand-carrying discus ... its not that its "not recommended". its illegal.

Not to mention the $50,000 fine that comes with it .
Now they would be expensive discus!

Ping, Do you really like those fish? I won't give discus a bad name by calling them discus. JMO, Joe :P

Hi Joe,

I cant have more discus in my house. Otherwise, I will have to sleep outside. :o
Yes, i like it the fish but i am not that crazy to import them to oz.
Just giving figures here to people who want to import them. ;D

Just bought a new tank for my breeding pair.
This hobby cost too much ... ;D
I am still a student, my dad will kill me if he finds out about my tanks and fishes.
I have 5 tanks already. That's it ... No more tanks. :)

Ronny
