Fry free swimming

My fry are now free swimming and I have turned the filter off to make life easier. How long do you leave the filter off for the fry to become attached to the parents?

With an airdriven sponge filter you can leave it off say four hours and run it for a half hour and repeat if needed. Keep a small lamp on all night (not tank light) so they can find parents.
