Just a question, which is better if either.
I went to buy my usual beef heart and found it at walmart for a change (cheap too), when I ran into a freind who said I should use veal hearts. He said its easier on the Discus digestive track??? Any thoughts or advise ???
The only thing is finding them, I called just about every butcher and meat market in town and they looked at me like I had three eyes!
So I called my friend and he's getting them outta chicago, with shipping they are coming out to be over 10 bucks a heart..does that sound normal??
lookin for veal in all the wrong places........... :-\
Any comments

Thanks Rose

I too have had zero luck finding veal hearts locally. :(

Gabe Posada of Wattley's told me he only uses veal hearts because he feels the possibility of them having large amounts of hormones is greatly reduced compared to hearts from adult cattle.

I've been using adult beef heart for close to two years now with no evidence of hormone problems in my discus.

So really then the differance if any is minor.
I'll just stick to beef hearts and turkey hearts since I can find them.

Thanks for the reply :)
