Sad day indeed. Man.....

Yes,
That was my cousing. Dave Brown, Mission Specialist on STS-107. He is the upper left man in the photo above. No contact with NASA or Dave's parents as of yet. This mission had been delayed for two days due to faulty heat tiles and worries about reentry. Will update later.

A very sad day indeed. :(

Seems these days there are to many terrible things happening that you remember where you were and what you were doing when you heard about whatever happened.

here's the last photo we got from Dave. He wanted to put his family in space as well. He sent 5 or 6 e-mails to me as well while he was up there. I'll have to check with NASA first to see if it would be ok to post them.

We take so much for granted with the huge success of the Space Shuttle program. We forget the risks and the sacrifices that these Heroes take and make. God Bless all of the families that have lost their heroes. They will never be forgotten for their courage and vision. Paul.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of- wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never Lark, or even Eagle flew -
And while with silent lifting mind, I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.
- John Gillespie Magee, Jr, 1922-1944

a very sad day.

sorry for the those who lost their loved ones.

may the souls rest in peace of the national heroes for each nation and a very depressing day for the world.

losing KALPANA CHAWLA in this mishap, india has had a set back. she was the 1st indian women to be in space.

my dad says : she was a very talented women, aspiring to reach the sky from her school days and she made her dreams come true by being the first female to be on space from india.
she was my dads shool mate and bench mate from class 3rd to 8th and i understand the pain her family is going through. my deepest regrets.

WE ARE PROUD OF YOU KALPANA CHAWLA and you are a NATIONAL HERO. we will always remember you and your achievements.

"You said tonight was a wonderful night to die
I asked how you could tell
you told me to look at the sky.
Look at all those stars....
look at how godd***n ugly the stars are."

Always remember the crew of STS-107 aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia. I pray for all those involved, especially my Cousin Dave Brown and his family. This affected many more than those 7 people...the dreams of everyone involved with NASA were aboard that shuttle.
