Hello,

One discus after eating usually turns dark and looks like its gasping for air. Then in about 10-15 minutes he back to normal swimming around.

any ideas?

thanks

ummm not too sure but I have noticed that even the same types of cichlids do not all have the exact smae eating behaviours or patterns ... even my DOJO loach seems to get weird when eating ... it will chew on the food but when it does it flares its face to full tilt as if warning a competitor away but then clses and realeses over and over again ... it is really amusing.
I would say that if it dosnt seem to be causing any problems other than that then i wouldnt sweat it

Eva,
Your fish may suffer from gill flukes. I have noticed in the past that eating sometimes increases the need for oxygen and the fish will turn dark. My fish stopped doing this after I treated for gill flukes. Hope this helps! ::)
