after aquiring new pair I put 2 drops of formalin per gallon after 24 hrs I saw some mass cotton thread like attached to heater cord and airline tube, siphoned out and changed 50 % water, what are these cotton thread like mass, this pair is active and eating well
temp 30 deg C, TDS 220, ph 8.1 ??? ::)

Hi Shamsoo,

What are you using the Formalin to treat for? Generally it is not recommended as a preventative treatment without a proper diagnosis of some sort, but I would be very careful about it (ie Formalin = last resort in my book)

Was the tank newly set up or did it have other inhabitants before these 2? is it planted? Gravel? Is the foramlin milky or white? (ie formalin is no good if not clear)

I would just do a thorough scrubbing of everything...

thanks Chong, using as preventive measure , tank is bare bottom
no other fish, no plants and gravel, fish was not looking good in lfs
but at home they are well and happy, eating chopped earthworms and frozen blood worm, mosquito larva
