What is your opinion on adding Black Water Extract to your water? Is there a benefit to the fish? Does anyone out there use it on a regular basis?

HI,
I have used it in the past, but I didn't think it really did much except color the water and cost $. Some others may have a different opinion.
I think peat moss is more effective as it does do some ion exchange along with adding humic acids. However I will only use it to stimulate spawning (I hope ;D)

I think that most folks who have been successful at keeping discus will agree that the key is CLEAN , stable water and good quality food. It requires very frequent water changes. Many find that the fish do better with daily changes. Some may do it a bit less frequently, but not much. Any non essential additive that you are putting in the water is just being flushed down the drain daily. Flushing $$$$$ actually. Peat can be used if your water is such that really requires it. If not, just good clean water is the key. Save your money.
