Gary: ;D ;D ;D That's my >:(mother-in-laws' >:( personal teapot. She only drinks from that pot and nothing else will please her when she comes to visit and stay overnight. I put it in the discus tank just to keep the flavor in until she comes again. :-X :-X
Actually, It's a cave for my Albino Bristlenoses to lay eggs. They love a pot with a small entrance and a wide base where the eggs will stick on the roof. You'll see the little guy hiding underneath the driftwood.

Beth: Beautiful Rose Red cross. Outstanding. Very exceptional finnage.

Hey, all. LOVE those pics! I think I've got either a red melon or a Marlboro Red. Until I get a digital camera though... anyways. Question for all yaz... Would a marlboro red (about 6 months old) have some peppering on his head or might this be a very clean PB? He's certainly a beautiful fish. He looks just like this pic (copied this from brewmaster's above pic) except his top and bottom fins are trimmed in black. His body is all one color except for the peppering. Any ideas?

AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH You people are killing me!!!!! :'( :'( All those wonderful red fish....Brew,ya know who to call when you get fry from your marlboros.....Gary and I KNOW where ya live ;D.
And Mike ole bud,ole pal,ole friend on mine 8) You don't really want to have to pack up and move ALL of your fish do ya ;D I think I know where a few of those red types could go.....Lets see,if I leave at 6am I could be there by 10 am load fish and be home before din-din...Yea thats the ticket.....works for me ;)
My bud Steve took pity on me and my exploits with trying to get fry,and let me take a pair of his Sunrise to see if I could get some fry,cuz he has had tons of fry from them...I swear he could get a statue of discus to breed LOL...so they are now at home in thier new tank and I am pacing around like a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs, waiting for something to happen.
Well I think so far everyones pics of thier red fish are just super,I can't really pic out a favorite, unless maybe April post a pic or two of her Manas Oops,I just reread the poats and saw her wilds....and Jimmy I love your pics of the wilds, any luck on breeding them? Put me on the long list of fry wanters....Keep up all the good work all you red freaks!!! 8)

I really like the concept of these threads. So many times I see a great discus without identification.

Maybe in the first page of future threads we could have a description and history on how certain fish were developed? What's their bloodline? Sure would be a big help in identifying since there are so many different looking fish that have the same origin...

I LOVE everybody's red fish. They look great! They are all just a little different to give them some individuality. Here are a few of my Red Melons and a Ruby Red Alencer.

Those are beautiful red eyes they've got, Brigitte. Man, some fine specimens there. So, how many discus have you got TOTAL? Do you breed them, or just enjoy keeping and spoiling the adults? I've recently gotten into the hobby (though I've bred Angels in the past) of Discus and only have 4. They are around 4-7 months old. Hearty eaters, I must say!!! When I get a digital camera, I'll be sure to post some pics!
See ya.

Joe (CO Discus), I'm just an avid hobbyist with too many fish. I've come to the realization that I need to reduce my collection, and just concentrate on the Reds and Spotteds. Some of them are beginning to do the wiggle dance, and I just hope that there are some males in there that are studs and not duds!
I'm giving up on the yellows. They all turn pink, yes pinkish and orange. Must be the pellets and flakes that does that to them! They seem to have turned into goldens or golden sunrises!

JimmyL, those are Chai's Red Melons and Lee Koon Yen's Ruby Red Alencer. I've been lazy about adding astaxanthin, but when I do, I notice that the red gets more intense.

Hey DIZ, Lucy you. I can't wait until I get some fry from my Melons. :)

Hi everyone, newbie here, and hope i can gain the knowledge and skills everyone has shared here!! Lovely pictures by all!! Attached is a setup of what i have- 75 gal 10 discus with 10 neons in the tank too. The guy at petland said the neons would be no problem... Would you agree?

Im thinking the discus are really young, based on the size when do you think they will start breeding?

Thanksin advance all!

Fatties,

You might want to create your own thread for your post and try to get a clearer picture. I can't really make ANYTHING out except that I think there are some fish in a tank...

;)

With your own thread, more people will see it and get a chance to comment.

Welcome, by the way!

John

BJ- you got some lovely discus there. Take good care of them.

Fatties - clean the lens on your camera - eh! lol....hahahaha.
At least you have gone to the trouble to take pics.... me - I got lots of cameras ... no time to take a photo... tooo busy feeding the little devils. Hmmmm, maybe an underwater camera is the answer[???]. Why not, I've dropped everything eles into the tanks, over the years.
