Filters for planted discus aquariums????

What are the BEST filters for a planted aquarium?

I was doing some research on wet/dry's-canister-power filter......

What are your recommendations????

I use Aquaclears on my planted tanks. I do have an Emperor 400 on my 55 gallon but if I could do it again I would have an AQ on there too.

AquaClears are great if you like H.O.T. filters.
Canisters cause less co2 loss if you plan to inject co2.
Wet Dry is my absolute choice no matter what. Easy to maintain and you can hide all your gear under the tank instead of in it.

Thank you for replying, right now a have a UGF running w/an ac.200...
I know about ugfs so i'll change it as soon as possible......

What's th difference between canisters and wet/dry filters?

i've seen a lot of DIY wet/dry's, are they good? Should i buy it from a LFS?

I've also have in mind a Fluval 204 for my 55g, Is that enough w/the ac200?

Well, I've made up my mind and got myself a Fluval 204 for my 55g planted tank........ ;D My question now is should i remove out completely the UGF or can i leave inside the tank but inactive?????? ???

What were you using to power the UGF? If it was a powerhead try reversing it, I've had a lot of luck with that in planted aquaria. It will also do a good job of keeping a lot of mulm from getting deep into the substrate. I know that goes counter to a lot of what I've said, but the flow from the reversed UGF (RUGF) transports a good deal of nutrient rich water to the roots, negating the need for mulm in the substrate.
