Well after taking my wife to a very nice hatchery and her kind heart feeling bad watching me do all those water change. My wife has finally decided to give me the garage/basement as the fish room.

So I was wondering if anyone has a similar setup in a cold region? My basement is also the garage. We had a terrible winter here in the NE so I was wondeirng what the electricity bill was going to be like. Do you have a seperate room with some insulation? What about heating the water? I know it would cost more to heat the water because the room temperature is lower but does anyone have a rough idea of how much more it cost?

What about supplementing it with a space heater?

Sorry for all the questions but I am really excited about this...

I don't know if this will help but I have a friend who has a fish room in his basement and what he did was frame a wall with 2X3's then lined it up with the thick hard foam insulation sheets, sealed the joints up with tape. He is able to heat the room with the heat given off the by the blower. The room is in his basement and not the garage though.
