Have a 20 Gallon aquarium with two 2.5 inch Turquose discus.

I change about 25% of the water every two days under normal circumstances.

Is it a good idea to put about 1tbspn of salt per water change?? Some people say it is a good idea (preventative) but I would like to know for sure.

I have some nutrafin aquarium salt.

Hi all,
Dan, what are your water params in the tank? Are you using tap water to do W/C's? If using tap, do you know what the params are of that water?

Hi,
i don't think its a good idea routinely. It raises conductivity of the water, also doesn't help anything.IMO
Only use it when needed for treatments.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Testing only Amonia and PH at the present.

PH is about 8.0 and Amonia is a big fat 0.
