I am feeding my juvies 3-4 light meals a day, and the tanks get pretty messy (especially from 1 beefheart feeding). Do you feed your adults less food? If so, do you change the water as often? Basically, are adult discus easier to maintain?

Also, what size typically constitutes an adult discus? What size do they start to pair off?

Thanks,
Nick

Nick I can only tell you what I do and I'm no expert. But here goes, adults are not noted by size but by age to me. Usually a discus of 12 to 16 mths is what i'd call adult. As far as feeding, my adults get fed twice a day. But they get a 40% w/c every day. Very young fry get fed 5 to 6 times a day and get 50% w/c twice a day. To me there are no short cuts and why should there be if you want happy healthy fish. As far as pairing off goes my experence has been around 8 to 12 mths old. But thats just me I think others will tell you of there experences and they will be a little different here and there :) Good luck Jim & Diane
