Okay folks I know this is weird, but I want to feed my CBW's something...any ideas??? I mean yeah they are gonna be fed to my discus, but in order to make things fair I want to feed them their last meal. I wash my CBW's daily and I've been keeping them for quite some time without any substance and was just wondering what they need to survive as far as food.

Thanks.

If i'm correct, they feed of of their own body fat, which is plenty to last them, mine usually last a month or so before i run out and they're still living.

I sprinkle flake food on mine after each rinse. To me they seem to be a little more lively then with no food.

Hi allan,

In the fridge there metabolism is really slow, so slow that they will not eat much if anything. They live off their stored tissues. They can actually go for weeks and weeks like this.

If you want to feed them...they need to get warmed up...then they will eat crushed flake in small quantities as it break downs. I know that Dan@ aquatic feeds salmon food at his rearing ponds.

This is not something you really want to do though for long term storage . The water will foul very quickly.

I agree with Jeff. Small amounts of banana peels, also Spirulina tablets. They'll chew their way right into these goodies, but once you swirl the water around a little, they'll come wriggling out in a hurry. If you're going to feed, as Brew said, warm them up. I keep some of mine in the fishroom wich is in the high 70's most of the time, and they do fine in there. Make sure to supply oxygen if you keep them warm.
