Here's what happens when you only have two discus in a tank.
This pictures shows a small batch of PBxSS babies that went freeswimming 4/2/03. Do you see the two bigger PBxSS babies? Those two were hatched in March. Only 9 eggs hatched in March as the water wasn't soft enough. I vacumed some out and figure the parents would eat the rest . . . they didn't. I didn't bother to feed the 2 babies bbs or anything else and kept adding RO water to bring down hardness. The female SS laid eggs every week. The male refused to fertilize them.
Finally after a couple of weeks I threw the 2 babies in an empty tank. The PB male promptly fertilized the next batch of eggs which are 3+ weeks old.
Can you see the size difference between the two older PBxSS? The went into the the spare tank close to the same size. Now the bigger one is twice as big in only a month. He wasn't really mean to the smaller one, but he would chase her away from the CBW.
