:book:This is the strain of Discus I saw on a website called Sunrisetropicals (in daly city,ca) It was a picture of a breeding pair. M. Glories are incredible looking.............. I haven't been able to find them locally and don't know about having one or two shipped to me. :juggle:
Its an incredible fish , does anyone have any ideas on whether i should wait to see if they pop up around my town or should i just order them from an online breeder? :banghead:
I requested one of the main LFS in my area to order some for me but who knows if that'll happen.
Comments ? :gossip:

I ordered my eight discus from sunrisetropicals and am very pleased. I debated between the Morning glory and Golden Sunrise and ended up getting the later. All discus where very healthy and not shy at all. :fish:

The quality of the discus normally seen in LFS is poor more often than not. This isn't a surprise considering that they can get them for under $5/each. Breeders (who know that the fish are destined for the LFS) send the distributors their junk.
I'd recommend ordering from one of the breeders here if quality is a big issue.

:o Wow! $5.00 and then they sale them for like 25-30 geez. Interesting that breeders sale them their junk .... wouldn't you think a breeder would want a good rep. for the fish he provides no matter were there sold?
Sunrise tropicals looks like a great place to obtain excellent Discus.
Do you have to order a certain $ amount of fish or can you order only 1 $25 fish and they'll still send you that one?
Thanks Buds

To get your monies worth for shipping etc, I would get at least 3 or more, you never know if the little ones will make it!
The Morning Glories look like a piegon Blood varity to me, anyone comment on this?
I belive also, that this strain has come from Japan, but cannot be sure!

Do you live in Northern California? If so there are lots of discus sellers in the San Francisco area where you can visit the facility and pick out your own discus. If that is not an option perhaps there is a hobbiest within driving distance or I would reccomend one of the professionals that have banners on this site. Shipping may run you $65 - $100 per box wether the box contains one fish or 12 fish. The discus pictured is a perfect representative of that type of pigeonblood. There is no guarantee yours will look like the one pictured when it grows up.

;DThanks Carol ,,, yeah that's what im worried about is receiving a shipped discus and it not having the distinguishing traits that I loved about the pictured ones on that site...
Yeah Im in Northern California, Sacramento to be exact and I'd love to know of a local breeder around here but have no idea.
Sunrise tropicals is in Daly City (bay area) i could drive down there but i'd rather not.
Any suggestions on Local Breeders or how to find them in Sac would be really appreciated!!!!
Thanks!

Bing Seto (www.discusworld.com (http://www.discusworld.com)) is in Alameda and Samson Cheung (www.universaldiscus.com (http://www.universaldiscus.com)) is in San Francisco, Sunset District. These guys are professionals. There are a ton of hobbyist breeders in the area as well. Recommend you check out the pros first.
Joe Szelesi (www.enchanteddiscus.com (http://www.enchanteddiscus.com)) shows Morning Glory strains on his website.

I live about 20 minutes away from Sunrise. Very nice place actually, reasonably priced. Most of his fish come from Taiwan, where his partner breeds and develop new strains. He breeds them locally too. And the golden sunrise and morning glory from what i know, is something they created in taiwan. the golden sunrise is more orange, and the morning glory is more yellow. He has some excellent red white discus, expensive though, and some very nice White diamonds. And the pictures on the website, are like they say, they're the actual fish you buy, and he updates very frequently. IMHO its a great place, and less expensive than fairy lake, or universal. Although he doesn't offer as many strains as those two, he's got a good selection.

Hi,
I have purchased some morning glories from sunrise tropicals 2 months age. Yes, they are pigeonblooded discus. Tony is very pleasant to deal with. Shipping will cost you $65. There is peperring on the fish. One that I got is pretty clean the other has more pepperring. The body shapes are very round. At 2-3 inches my fish look yellowish orange with only hints of red. I will post pictures.
Joe at enchanted discus also carries morning glory and will be getting a new shipment in the end of May. If you had some shipped from him you could probably get pick of the litter at this time.

i had a mornig glory for 2 weeks. I nicknamed him Saddma Hussein, he was a juvenile and terrorised everyone in the tank - and i mean terrorised! I rang the breeder and asked her to sell him for me but she said just to bring him back so she swapped him over for a red royal blue. I named him 'peace"! I pity the poor fish hes with now! But he was a nice fish.
